Pierre when asked what his favorite product is:

" The Black Diamond Alpine Start hoody – yeah, I have loads of very specific pieces of gear that have saved me in truly horrendous conditions while up in the mountains… Black Diamond Stormline waterproof set, a wide range of Black Diamond gloves, and my trusty Black Diamond Distance 15 pack. But thinking about this question I realised that since I received the Black Diamond Alpine Start Hoody, I’ve taken it on every single mountain trip since. It is just such a versatile piece of gear. I have used it high up in the Drakenberg while running through the night in minus temperatures, functioning as a windproof layer over a down jacket. I’ve also used it as a protective layer during the day when there’s a blistering Lesotho wind blowing and a scorching sun beating down… I even found use for it while away for a casual weekend of birding in Dullstroom’s high-altitude grassland – it is truly the first piece of clothing I now pack whenever I go away."
