Review From Roelof Mostert
Golden Gate ATR :
My findings are purely objective and is by no means as a result of how technically inept I was on Saturday at Tsitsikama.
This is a true box to trail to road shoe. Paired with a really good sock it’s hands down one of the most comfortable trail options I’ve ever worn.
I would however recommend the ATR mostly for FLAT/hard packed terrain.
Racing in the garden route is a very different beast. The majority of the trails here camber significantly, I found the stack-height to be an issue in this regard. Yes, the Preza gripped well over the little sandstone dispersed, but the bulk of the terrain is rooty, decomposed vegetation and thick black mud. The shoe does drain very quickly when submerged.
Synopsis : Golden Gate ATR for Table Mountain, Cederberg, Tankwa ( dry )
Kima for anything Garden route. ( wet )
